RULES

General

The goal of the competition is to drive all offroad tracks from start to finish as fast as possible and preserve the material.

Check points should be reached. Not reached check points will be punished with time penalities.

Also vehilce damages will be punished with time penalities.

Navigation must be done only with tools like compass, rulers, cirlce, ... GPS is forbidden! The usage of GPS devices result in disqualificaiton.

It is very important to understand that it is not allowed to use private offroad areas or tracks and respect all signs (special tracks are beeing controled). Anyhow, we (the organizers) are not able to control every single track or the whole area, so the final responsibility remain at the participants.

Check points

Check points are marked target points (colored tree or maintained by a crew member,...).

Upon reaching a check point the time has to be noted on the on-board-card. GPS-Trackers, provided by us, are used for analysis.

Missing check points will be assessed with penalties (minutes). Check points are mostly noted in the road book or sometimes marked in the map. Check points might also be necessary to be calculated and/or to be constructed (angle, distance, etc.) or their findings are formulated textually (terrain, shrine, ...)

Penalty minutes of check points could be noted either in the roadbook or on the map (in brackets).

Roadbook alternatives/variants: In case the roadbook splits into several variants (e.g. easy "B" or difficult "A") it is only allowed to drive one specific variant. If the boarding card contains several variants: The check points with the higher value of the roadbook-variant will be used for the daily ranking/score.

On key check points (which will be engaged with a human person) the teams are able to ask for help (resulting in penaly minutes) to determine the current location: The Organizer wil mark the current position onto the participants maps.

Special stages

Sepcial stages are exercises which must be completed with or without the offroad vehilce and have to be executed also by one or more teams together. Mostly the special stages are related to offroad and/or outdoor topics.

Special exercises determine the starting order of the teams and thus the maximum provided time for driving the stage as the latest arrival time at the target is always an absolute given time (eg: 7pm)

The (special) rules for the special stages will be announced locally.

Vehicle damages

One goal is also a good material-management at the competition. At the start line, the vehicles are briefly reviewed/checked and existing damages are noted on the on-board-cards.

Immediately after finish of the stage, the vehicles are checked against additional damages (before-after) and those are noted on the on-board-cards as follows:

There are two categories of damages: "serious" and "light".

  • "no damage": technical damages, small dents, scratches, ... - No penalty
  • "light damages": big dent, broken glass or headlights, tail lamps, ... - Penalty: 15 minutes
  • "serious damages": all others damages - Penalty: 30 minutes

Note: Damages are evaluated also several times / day / stage.

Special track

During a two day special the teams have to catch a given number of check points (each with individual penalty minutes) in a given time period. The team can choose the sequence as well as the track to catch these check points!

Assessment:

  • driving time is insignificant - only the latest possible arrival time has to be kept ("latest possible arrival time")
  • relevant is the number check points the team will collect
  • and the the shortest possible track

Each covered distance (each km) will be assessed with one penalty minute.

Separated rules for this special track will be provided straight before the start.

Ranking and score

The ranking is based on the elapsed time the teams needs to complete (from start to finish) plus the amount of penalty minutes as follows:

  • not reached check points: individual penalty minutes (depending on difficulty of the check point to reach) .The amount of penalty minutes of every check point is either noted in the road-book or in the map.
  • light vehicle damage: 15 minutes penalty (per damage / vehicle / day)
  • serious vehicle damage: 30 minutes penalty (per damage / vehicle / day)
  • help to determine the current position on map (by organizer): 30 penalty minutes / assistance
  • Exceeding the "must arrival time" (target, finish, camp): doubles the time between the "must arrival time" and effective arrival time
  • Exceeding the "latest possible arrival time": Maximum daily score (time + double time) and no reached check points are assessed
  • Lost on-board-card or damaged/broken seal of GPS-Tracker: Maximum daily score (time + double time) and no reached check points are assessed
  • Unsportsmanlike behaivior: 60 minutes penalty up to disqualification
  • Crop damages (cut vital trees, drive on fields or privat land, ...):60 minutes penalty up to disqualification
  • Usage of GSP devices or privat maps: disqualification (except in emergancy cases)

If teams consisting of more than one vehicle: the vehicle with the worst performace (per day) will be determined for the ranking of the whole team. Each team has to arrive with the same vehicle(s) at the stage finish as the team started.

On total vehicle breakdown new teams can be built pre to the stages. Ranking / scroring as follows:

  • New team consist of less cars than old team: Maximum daily score (time + double time) and no reached check points are assessed for the previous stage
  • New team consist of more cars than old team: the car with the worst performace (per day) will be determined for the ranking of the whole team. Backdated for all stages.
  • New team consist of equal cars than old team: Maximum daily score (time + double time) and no reached check points are assessed for the previous stage. Additionally the car with the worst performace (per day) will be determined for the ranking of the whole team. Backdated for all stages.

Results/standings will be published daily.

Winner will be the team with the shortest driving time.
